The Benefits of Cupping
Cupping is an alternative therapy that involves placing cups or jars on certain parts of the body and creating suction which pulls against your skin. The cups or jars used may be made of glass, bamboo, plastic, silicone or earthenware.
Long used in ancient Chinese medicine and other traditional healing systems, cupping has grown in popularity with celebrities like David Arquette, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston and athlete Michael Phelps drawing attention to the Chinese therapy.

· There are a number of different types of Dry cupping, Wet cupping & Suction cupping .In our clinic we use suction cups . These are plastic cups that are applied gently with a vacuum . They are left on for 3 to 5 minutes . This causes the underlying tissue to rise and your blood vessels to expand.

Reasons You Should Try Cupping
While there haven’t been many scientific studies on cupping, some research shows that the technique can improve your health and provide numerous benefits.
1. Ease chronic pain
If you’re looking for a natural way to manage pain, consider cupping. Cupping helps to reduce tension in your muscle which often causes physical pain. A 2015 report published in the Journal of Traditional and Complementary Medicine notes that cupping is effective at treating chronic pain – muscle aches, back pain and headaches – when compared to typical treatments like over-the-counter pain relievers.
2. Relieves inflammation
Physical pain is usually an indication that inflammation has increased locally in a particular area. Cupping helps blood to flow easily through veins and arteries. It improves blood circulation in the affected location by attracting immune cells to speed up the recovery process. This helps the swelling go down.
Other practitioners will use cupping to help improve digestion & treat some skin conditions. Some people may be concerned by the bruises that cupping sometimes creates, however this can be minimized if needed
There is some evidence to show that cupping can help you with certain health issues. But to understand how it works, how effective it is and what issues it is best for, scientists need to conduct more rigorous and high-quality studies.
